About the Owner, Gary Timchak

I started my locksmithing career in 1997 in North Pole, Alaska. In 1999, I moved back to Pittsburgh, PA, and worked for Safemasters as their lead safe and vault technician until 2003. Shortly after leaving Safemasters in 2003, I joined the team at Robert Morris University as their lead locksmith and stayed there until 2021.

While I enjoyed working for other companies, I always wanted to have my own business, so I established Timchak Safe & Lock, LLC in 2003. It wasn’t my full-time focus until May 2021, but becoming my own boss was the right choice, and I’m very proud that the people of Pittsburgh, PA, and the surrounding metro region can count on us to provide them with a wide range of locksmith services.

Timchak Safe & Lock is a veteran-owned and family-operated business offering safe, automotive, residential, commercial, and commercial/industrial locksmith services. We specialize in safe and vault openings, as well as safe sales, repairs, and moving/relocation. Automotive and motorcycle customers can count on us to cut/duplicate and program high-security keys, fobs, remotes, and other chipped keys. We also provide a range of access control and security services for residential and commercial clients.

I called Gary and somehow he was able to find time to see me the same day, even though my issue wasn’t actually an emergency. Gary knew what the issue was within a few seconds of looking at the door. Not only that, he’s the only other person I’ve met who was familiar with the brand of lock I purchased. It was evident from the moment he rang our bell that Gary had extensive experience and knew exactly how to help me. His truck was fully stocked with everything needed to complete the job quickly and efficiently.

I told Gary before he left that I now have a trusted locksmith. It was a review like this that connected us. I’m very thankful for that and the job he did for me.

I couldn’t open my home safe and called Gary for help. Instead of pushing a paid service, he patiently walked me through steps over the phone so I could fix it myself and it worked!

I really appreciated his honesty, knowledge, and willingness to help without expecting anything in return. That kind of integrity is rare these days. Highly recommend Gary!

Gary is the best! I was able to schedule an appointment via text, and show him pictures of the locks I needed rekeyed. Gary showed up the next day on time and had the job done in a few hours. He was professional and kind. 10/10 recommend and I would hire again!

Awesome company definitely recommend them. Fair prices. They return calls quickly. Got me together on a Sunday! Can do any type of keys even motorcycle. I had a vintage bike. They came through excellently. Friendly staff and they work fast! We need more companies like this one. So if you’re in a jam, give them a call.
